A Pampered Pet & ADL Mortgage - Dana Williams, '77

Having always been fascinated with glass, Dana Williams took some classes and was hooked. Add that to her love of animals (she has four dogs) and A Pampered Pet was born.

All of the creations are designed and fashioned by Dana. After hand cutting each piece, the design is created with pieces of plain, colored and/or dichroic glass (changes colors depending on the light or the background), frit (chunks of broken glass) and stringers or noodles (round or flat “strands” of glass), then fired in a kiln. Firing the glass at different temperatures will produce different results and finishes from smooth to textured with different thicknesses. The bowls go through another stage and are then “slumped” or fired again in the kiln using a mold so that the piece can “melt” into a shape determined by the mold. But what comes out of the kiln is not always what went in. Glass has a mind of its own and you can never be sure how it will melt or what shape it will take. Each piece is truly unique and a work of art.

She creates several products for pets. Her pet necklaces are made of glass and metal beads with the option of a dichroic pendant. While each piece is completely unique, a set of similar pieces can be made so that you can have a bracelet or necklace to "match" your pet's jewelry. The Metrosexual Line which is made for boys or girls has clean, crisp designs in black, white and silver for a sophisticated look. And since every girl should have a string of graduated pearls, there is the Faux Pearl Line in a variety of colors. The pet bowls are solid slumped and fused glass, dishwasher safe with a range of sizes, colors and designs. A portion of all pet proceeds will be donated to various animal charities.

After a request for a glass cross, she expanded into designs for people. Her Pendants, Cross Pendants and Table Top Crosses are truly unique and each is a work of art. Soon she will offer designer bowls and platters.
