Wagner Memories - Yolanda Knight Williams '80
Yolanda graduated in 1980 from Wagner. She states that her experiences in the Philippines were the best of her life...so far. She is living in Columbus, Ohio working for The Ohio State University Medical Center as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. She has been doing this for almost 25 years!! She is divorced with with 3 children: Marquita, 22, just graduated from OSU in December, Tevin, 14, and Kevin, 12. She has connected with some of her friends from the P.I., but hasn't been to a reunion yet. She looks forward to seeing old friends at the next reunion in D.C. and reminiscing about good times at Clark and Wagner.
What was your first impression of Clark and Wagner? Beautiful!!
What surprised you the most about the Philippines? What did you like best about living there? Nothing really surprised me.. The best thing I liked was the weather.
Did you really miss anything from the States? No, not really.
Who were your good buddies? Lisa Myrick ‘80, Angie Jackson '80, Jackie Head '80, James Bowser '80, Reggie Cunningham '80, Venita McCall '80, Ramona Knight '81, Tracy Hooper '81, Charles Hooper '82. There's more but I can't list them all....
Where did you hang out? The NIPA Hut and the hall between 100 and 200.
Who was your favorite teacher/class? Mr. Saddlemire & Mr.Schrupp.
Did you have a part time job - what was it? I worked at the Base Commissary.
Did you have a crush on anyone? Yes...Tony Hicks '81 :-)
Have you become closer to a Wagnerite that you didn't know well in high school because of a reunion? No.
Do you think your experience living overseas made you a better person? Yes it has. I learned to adapt to different cultures and I still embrace them to this day.
